with a talk at 5:30 p.m. (exchanges with the public) on the question of the place of women in the public space, with Laura Schuft – Lecturer in sociology at the University of Côte d’Azur, in the presence of Silva Usta as well as Montvalon Plum, director of Cidff 06 – Moderation Isabelle Pellegrini
In spring 2023, Silva Usta photographed women in Miami Beach in the state of Florida in the USA.
As part of the “Festives” Festival ! » organized in March 2026 within the Entrepont in Nice, a selection of this photographic series is exhibited. They show women who inhabit public space fully, in color and majesty, who take their place on the streets of the city.
These images imbued with a great force of life gave the theme of this edition of “Festives ! » : Take your place, which is also the title of the exhibition.
These images taken on the spot and with the consent of the people, offer a mirror that is both complex and encouraging to social science research on the place of women in the public space today.
This reflection will be the subject of a public conversation on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition with sociologist Laura Schuft., in the presence of the artist Silva Usta.
