On the occasion of Women's Rights Day, Silva Usta organized an event in front of his workshop celebrating emancipation and feminine beauty. Wednesday 13 mars 2024.
Don't be afraid of looks
When she was young, Silva saw female society fearing the gaze of men. But she also saw that strong and assertive women had made her change in Istanbul. And while traveling, that this gaze rested differently on them. And that feminine beauty could be celebrated with freedom by men and women.
Stockings are therefore a symbol of seduction chosen here by the artist for their aesthetics., their claim and the choice that women can have to highlight themselves and flatter the men who look at them and whom they choose.
The expression of artists
For this feminine and feminist event, Silva chose to expose these bottoms high. To highlight them in the simplest and most demonstrative way possible. And to extend them above the spectators without personalizing them. Because ultimately it’s up to everyone to do what they want..
Silva also made a sculpture which makes the wish for emancipation for all the countries of the world. The female figurines brandish their flag and their charms.
To help yourself, Silva Usta also called on 2 dancers who, each, performed choreographies focused on the expression of femininity and the paradoxes and victories it goes through.
The dancers and sound artists Lisie Philip and Magali Revest were able to interpret their strong vision of a femininity that still troubles and struggles today.
